Live UFC betting: when and how a fight ends
The UFC stages mixed martial arts bouts in its Octagon, and each bout is scheduled for either three or five rounds of five minutes; since 2011 even a non-title main event goes five. The live UFC page on the site lists the bouts of a card as they reach the cage, one fight at a time; the next cards are priced in advance in UFC pre-fight betting.
Timing markets on a UFC 333 bout
On the evening of 24 October the page carried one fight from UFC 333: Aaron Pico versus Losene Keita, a minute away from the first bell. Beyond picking the winner, the fight page asked a string of questions about time:
Will the fight go the distance? Yes was priced at 2.52, no at 1.49.
In which round will it end? Round 1 at 2.85, round 2 at 3.75, round 3 at 7.5.
How many minutes will it last? Under 7.5 minutes was 2.2, over 12.5 minutes 2.27.
Will round 3 start at all? Yes 1.97, no 1.79.
Read together, these prices sketch the same fight from different angles: a "no" on going the distance is a bet on a finish before the judges are needed. Fights booked further ahead sit among UFC match-ups with no date yet.

A draw is declared when the judges score both athletes level after the final round; on the two-way market the stake then comes back at odds of 1.
Betting while the fight is on
Shortly after the bell, the Pico and Keita page had no markets open. Prices on a fight can vanish once the action starts, so the line seen before the walkout may not be there a minute later. A live bet is final as soon as the server registers it and confirmation arrives online.
