Frosty Bonanza: a 6x6 grid under ice

Mancala's Frosty Bonanza puts six rows on six reels and pays for symbols anywhere on the grid, provided at least six of a kind appear. Its signature is the locked cell: the upper three rows start every Base Game spin frozen, while winning combinations are lifted off the reels in an avalanche effect.

Paying symbols and the yeti Wild

The setting is a sweet one: a purple grid in a pink frame, giant lollipops, a candy cane in the snow and ice blocks across the top rows.

Ten sweets and fruits make up the paytable, each paying at three tiers: 6+, 10+ and 13+. The candied apple heads it; the swirl sweet, the green macaron, the fruit jelly, the gummy bear, the chocolate sweet, the strawberry, the plum and the watermelon follow, and the banana comes last.

The Wild is drawn as a horned snow yeti. It replaces any regular symbol, joins winning combinations and leaves the grid with them, both in the Base Game and in the Bonus Game.

Special symbols

A Coin pays the value printed on it multiplied by the bet, then leaves. A Coin Multiplier boosts every Coin currently visible, Coins held in locked cells included, before turning into a Coin. The Row Opener hits the lowest available locked row for 1 damage and is then removed. Surprise reveals one of those three. All four can show up in the Base Game as well as in the Bonus Game.

The Bonus Game brings two more, and there Surprise can produce either of them. A Bomb clears regular symbols from a 3x3 square and takes one durability level off any locked cell it covers. A Wild Maker makes Wilds out of 2 to 4 regular symbols and finally turns into a Wild itself.

Locked cells and their durability

While a cell is locked, whatever it holds, regular or special, stays inactive: it cannot be part of a win or set off a feature. How many unlocking actions a cell takes depends on its row:

• Row 4, level 1: one action;

• Row 5, level 2: two actions;

• Row 6, level 3: three actions.

Any of these counts as an action: a winning combination touching the cell on at least one side, a Bomb catching it in its area, or a Row Opener firing. In the Base Game the freeze comes back: if no winning combination remains after all symbol actions, rows 4, 5 and 6 lock up again.

Free spins and Buy Bonus

The Scatter is a rainbow scoop of soft-serve ice cream marked BONUS, limited to one per reel. When three or more land in the Base Game they stay put until the Bonus Game begins, and the number of free spins follows the count: 5 for three, 7 for four, 10 for five, 15 for six.

Damage done to the ice carries over from one free spin to the next, since locked cells do not reset during the feature. Each locked row is worth a multiplier there, x2 for row 4, x4 for row 5 and x8 for row 6; once earned, it applies to the current win and all later ones, never to the balance.

BUY BONUS gives two ways in from the Base Game: a purchase at 50x the bet brings 5 to 15 free spins, while one at 100x brings 15 outright. Bought or triggered, the feature keeps the stake of its starting spin.
